Photo Shoots
Why did you pick this project? How did you come up with this idea?
For my senior project I did a total of six photo shoots. I picked photography for my project because it’s been a hobby of mine since sixth grade. It’s also something that I’m good at. I decided to take portrait of people because it was something that I haven’t done a lot of and I thought I could use some more practice at.
What did you accomplish? Describe in detail what your project is all about and give some details on the particulars of the subject you chose and how it progressed into an event, activity, product, ETC.
1. Post on Facebook that I’m doing photo shoot for my senior project
2. Set up date to meet people to see what they are looking for in their photos and what kinds of things they/family like to do.
3. At my meeting we disused what they are looking for in the photos. We also set a date for the photo shoot.
4. Meet them at the location for the photo shoot and then start doing their shoot
5. During the shoot we pick around ten places to take photos at.
6. Then I have to edit the photos in Photoshop. Some photos I do basic edits on others I do lots of editing on.
7. After the photos are edited I burn them onto a disc.
8. I meet up with them again and give them their disc.
What was your goal at the beginning of the term? Did you meet your goal? Why or why not?
My goal at the beginning of the term was to complete around two photo shoots, but when the time came to turn my project in I had already done six of them. I would say that I could have got a little too into my project and went a little over board.
What did you learn as you completed your project? This may be about you or your project itself.
As I completed my project I learn that many people like many different types of photography. Some of the people that I did shoots for were around twenty minutes late. I think the biggest thing that I learned was that people are so much different from each other. I know that everyone looks different but I didn't know how much each person differs from each other. The last thing I learned that it is okay to tell people no when you are super busy with your project I had to turn away around seventeen families.
Describe how your project could serve as a connection to the workplace or community.
It connects with the workplace because it’s a job that people have at a photography studio.
Who was your adult (mentor) that worked with you and what did they do to assist you with your project?
My mentor was Amy Greene. She didn’t have to assist be that much because I known ha I was doing. One time I asked her what she thought of a photo and if I should do more edits to it. The one other time that we talked it was about going to college to open a studio or to become an art teacher. I saw her every day we had school because I’m her TA second period
